A Self-Driven Goal

I’ve been a part of the creative workforce for 17 years now spending the majority of that time chasing dreams of being a 3D Artist and Game Developer. While these skills are the backbone of my education and experience (and I won’t stop making small games in my free time) I found myself craving a new challenge and experience. I’ve always had an appreciation of design, aesthetics and the power of branding. Seeing how color choices, logo design, app design etc. can immediately invoke a response in someone is fascinating. This pull towards a different creative career saw me begin the process of self-educating and experimenting with design. Books were ordered. Logos designed. Names brainstormed. Website made.

Scrapwood Design Co. became the next step, identifying myself with a name that would invoke the right energy inside me. Growing up with a carpenter father meant that there was always scraps of wood and tools around. The scrap wood pile represented the possibility of small crafts or toys that could be transformed by a little bit of imagination and creativity. I’m hoping that my foray in to the world of Graphic Design can channel the same childlike forces.
